I sent you an email with my info. Ray
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ray! You and Darin and confirmed in. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteAnthony from Davenport, Iowa is attending. Anybody else coming from the Quad Cities?
ReplyDeleteBill Reed indicates he is attending. We are honored to have DeKalb's previous tournament director in residence participating!
ReplyDeleteIf Don Reyes makes it back safely, he's a go for the tournament. I hope that doesn't scare away potential entrants. Anyone else? Buehler? Anyone?
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Mother Nature is getting her vengeance out of her system this week so that everything will be all clear for January 2nd! Safe travels, everyone.
ReplyDeleteFormer DeKalb Tournament winner Will Engel has signed on for the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteThe 2011 Illinois Kick-off is proud to welcome a fourth-grade prodigy who has upped his rating 650 points between Thanksgivings 2009 and 2010.
ReplyDeleteAnybody else out there improved that much in a year?
If he keeps that up, he'll be a world-class grandmaster in two years!
Two more up and coming juniors have pre-registered. There will be some serious competition Sunday!
ReplyDeleteClub members Mark P., John S, and Al J. are gung ho about Sunday! Cliff A., fresh off his 3 out of 4 showing in Elgin, will join us as well. I want to see everyone in bed before midnight on New Years Eve, getting your sleep before the tournament.
ReplyDeleteWeather forecast for Sunday is looking good! Should be smooth sailing from all directions. High temp on Friday is supposed to get into low 50's so snow should melt. Sunday will be a tad nippier, but sunny. How cool is that?
ReplyDeleteIn past local tournaments, club member Nathan has come up short on tie-breakers, leaving him just shy of a first place finish on one occasion and just short of second in another. Now comes word he'll be joining us on January 2nd and he's hunting for bear. Watch out field, intensity levels just wrenched up a notch.
ReplyDeleteAl is out, James is in! The competition is heating up.
ReplyDeleteWatch out, Andrew W. sounds like he's hunting for bear and should be there Sunday. Jake Z. seems to think he'll be sufficiently recovered from his hangover to challenge all comers Sunday as well. Darren is bringing a carload of chess aficionados now so downstate will be truly representing!
